The Vanar Project

This is an ongoing series that was created as an homage for my love of monkeys, since they are far from a rare sight in India and have deep cultural ties in the country's mythology.
Vanar literally translates to 'forest dweller'

Central Saint Martins - Graduation Film

The story follows a young monkey girl, Lily, who loves hanging out in nature and comes upon two boys who refuse to let her play with them solely because she is a girl. Their male ego is hurt because she is clearly better at playing their games and in an attempt to insult her gender they tease her and pull her hair, which they continue to do until their life falls in danger and Lily is the only one there.

LILY

The protagonist of the series
Picture
Lily is a relatively smaller vanar in her village who wears her hair long and fashions a flower in her hair while sporting pink. While she completely embraces her femininity by doing what feels natural to her, it does not automatically make her a weak vanar. She is the strongest one in the village, capable to knocking out ten males, double her size, at once.

SUJO

The second lead in the series

Sujo used to be a bully growing up, until Lily put him in his place. He is lazy, gluttonous, arrogant and not exactly motivated to do anything. Most days he passes his time staring at the clouds from the mountains of his abode while basking in the sunlight.
